Launching today: Flagship Pond Photo Competition

Join us as we celebrate our fabulous freshwater wildlife in a new photo competition.

Whether you use a phone camera, compact, or a SLR, you can get clicking to capture the landscapes, habitats, plants, animals, and people of some of the best pond sites in the country.

We hope that together we can create a visual record, a year in the life of the country’s Flagship Ponds and special species. We want to capture the beauty, complexity, drama, and magic of these precious ponds, and depict the wildlife, common or rare, that call them their home. We also want to document the part that people play in these ponds’ lives, or the ponds play in peoples’ lives.

The Flagship Pond photo competition is open for one year, giving you time to visit sites again and again, throughout the seasons. You can enter your photos at any time up to the closing date.

Flagship Ponds are the most important pond sites in the country. Thanks to the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, we are able to work with the people caring for 70 of these sites, ensuring they have the tools to monitor and manage the ponds well, protecting them for the future.
