Director, Central Team

Freshwater Habitats Trust is the UK’s leading charity for all freshwaters. We are an evidence-based organisation that protects freshwater wildlife through practical and innovative nature conservation projects across England and Wales.
The Director, Central Team, will develop and oversee programmes across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, playing a key role in realising our vision of building the Freshwater Network.
As a member of the Senior Management Team the postholder will lead the Central Team and work across the following areas:
- Strategic development
- Leadership and management
- Fundraising
- Project delivery
- Partnership development
- Technical supervision
- Finance
This position requires a creative, dynamic and enthusiastic person who works well as part of a team whilst being self-motivated and ambitious. The Director will have the ability to think on their feet, steer the direction of the programme teams and support them to achieve the long-term goals of the organisation.

NCP GIS & Data Support Officer

Are you passionate about using GIS and data to support nature recovery? Do you have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail and an interest in freshwater conservation?
We are seeking a GIS & Data Support Officer to help deliver high-quality habitat for great crested newts and wider biodiversity.
This full-time, three-year fixed-term role will support the Data and Monitoring Team in maintaining accurate spatial and tabular datasets, developing and supporting GIS tools and workflows, and ensuring robust reporting to our funder and Natural England.
Working closely with our conservation delivery team, you will support the development and completion of compensation sites, maintain ArcGIS and QGIS tools, assist with data collection systems such as Survey123 and Field Maps, and help troubleshoot GIS-related issues. The role would suit someone with a strong understanding of GIS principles, experience managing datasets, good Excel skills, and a meticulous, consistent approach to data quality.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Newt Conservation Partnership and contribute directly to practical nature recovery through high-quality habitat creation and monitoring.
The successful applicant will be employed by Freshwater Habitats Trust, seconded full-time to the Newt Conservation Partnership.
Newt Conservation Partnership (NCP) is a community-benefit society whose main purpose is creating and managing high-quality habitat for great crested newts, at the same time providing new habitats for many other wetland plants and animals. Programme Administrator, Central Area Regional Programme

Part Time (0.6 FTE) • Office-based • Oxford • Salary - £26K FTE
We are looking for someone to help power frontline freshwater conservation. As Programme Administrator for the Central Area Regional Programme, you’ll keep the people, projects and partnerships moving — turning plans into action and action into lasting change for rivers, wetlands and wildlife.
Working with managers, project teams and partners, you’ll provide the essential coordination that keeps a busy conservation programme organised, responsive and on track.
You’ll help drive the programme by:
- Coordinating meetings, workshops and events
- Keeping records, reports, inboxes and databases sharp and up to date
- Supporting grants, contracts, invoices and procurement
- Tracking actions, deadlines and follow-ups so delivery stays on course
We need someone who brings:
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Confidence juggling priorities, deadlines and people
- Initiative, clear communication and sound administrative experience
- Strong Microsoft Office and database skills, plus a collaborative approach
You don’t need to have a conservation background, but an interest in supporting work that helps protect and restore freshwater habitats would be a real advantage.
