Help us collect data on the whereabouts of frog and toad spawn across the country by taking part in our PondNet Spawn Survey 2022!
If you have a local park or garden pond with evidence of breeding frogs and toads, or you spot some spawn while out on a walk, why not record your findings and contribute to our spawn survey?
Enter your information at the bottom of this page.
From January until May we are running our survey to collect important data on the location of breeding frogs and toads across the country. We’re asking you to record both toad and frog spawn in your garden ponds, local community ponds, and any ponds you come across in your adventures in the countryside.
You can download the survey recording form, take a look at how to identify toad and frog spawn and learn how to find a grid reference for your survey pond below.
For our Spawn Surveys an accurate grid reference is required to locate the relevant water body. Click on the link below to find out ‘How to find a Grid Reference’
Your survey findings will be fed into our WaterNet database where your data will be freely available for Government bodies, NGOs and local people to download to feed into local wildlife plans and other surveys. We will also pass all our records on to Record Pool, the national database on reptiles and amphibians in the UK.
